How to secure a boxwood ball in a planter

How to plant a plastic boxwood ball into a window trough, round or square planter. When you get your plastic boxwood ball you will see 2 pieces of plastic sticking out, remove these and you will see either end of a tube that runs through the middle of the boxwood ball.  The gold string just needs removing – I have no idea why it is on there! This tube has a diameter of 15mm.   To secure your boxwood ball into a trough, square or round planter you will need ...

How to Secure Artificial Trees Outside

I have done a blog explaining how to plant up your chosen tree that is going outside when you do not need to move it.  A lot of businesses though put artificial trees either side of the entrance doorway but then need to bring them in at night for safe keeping.  Therefore the pot has to be heavy enough not too blow away but light enough to be able to be moved.  The method of tipping 20kg of coloured stone in as I have talked about in my previous blog would make the pot way too heavy. So the answer is ...

How Artificial Plants & Trees are Measured

I just want to let you know how I measure the artificial flowers, artificial trees and fake plants on the website - ok yes basically with a tape measure!! The measurements are approximate all the way through the site but I under measure rather than over measure.   Unpotted artificial flowers and plants are measured from the bottom of the stem to the top of the foliage.  I then also state the size of the stem.  This is usually 8 to 10cm on the artificial plants but on the flowers it can be various sizes. Potted fake plants are measured from the floor to the top of the foliage, again I then give the actual measurement of the pot along with ...

How to make up an artificial plant

In one of my previous blogs I talked about how to secure your chosen artificial plant into your pot.  I was thinking though that I have not really covered how to "dress" your chosen artificial plant.  I am selling more and more (in the words of Miranda's mum - "What I call flat-packed" artificial plants) So you have used your ...

How to Secure Artificial Plants into a Pot

I thought that I would let you know the way that I would recommend securing your chosen artificial plant into your chosen decorative pot. Most of my artificial plants and trees do not come in the decorative planter that just finishes off the display.  This is so that you can chose your own style of planter.  I am slowly building up a better range of small decorative planters so always give me a ring on 01934 524861 or email me if you cannot see what you want on the site....

How to fill a window trough or patio tub

I get asked quite often how to plant up a window box or patio tub and what artificial plants are best to put in the planters. So lets start with the empty window box or patio tub.  I don't sell these at the moment but your can get good ones from the local garden centre of DIY store (B & Q etc) I like Elho and Stewart for plastic planters.  Whilst you are out getting the trough also pick up a cannister of expanding foam, don't buy it from me as it i...

How to make an artificial hanging basket

A lot of people ask me how to make up an artificial hanging basket, so here goes. You will need a hanging basket or cone or whatever shape you want but this needs to have a polythene lining in it.   You will need a cannister of expanding foam (don't buy from me as it is a lot cheaper from B & Q or the builders merchants, it is heavy to ship which is why it is expensive from me)  You should ...

Benefits of Artificial Plants

When I first started Plants Enhance back in 1987 the artificial plants and trees were really quite shocking, they looked very plastic and false.  Gradually I have seen the artificial plant and tree world improve until now they are so good it is difficult sometimes to work out which plant is live and which is artificial. Using fake plants and trees in your home means that if you go on holiday you do not have to worry about asking a neighbour in come and water the plants.  Pets are less like to try and eat the leaves as they will sometimes do with live p...

Cleaning Artificial Plants and Trees.

The beauty of using artificial plants is that they require very little maintenance.  If they do get a little dusty then I use tepid water with a little bit of washing up liquid in.  After washing the plant then rinse in clean water, hang upside down over the washing line and hey presto your plant will look like new. If you need to clean one of the artificial trees (obviously you cannot wash that so easily in the sink!) then I would recommend the ...
